Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use Years Out, create an account, or submit a story. By using the site you confirm that you meet this age requirement.
Submitting a story
By submitting a story you confirm that the account is your own lived experience, that you are the author of the text, and that you grant Years Out a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free licence to publish, display, and aggregate it on the site. You must consent to data processing before submitting.
What we will not publish
We reject submissions that contain spam or commercial promotion, identifying details about third parties, hate speech, or content that is implausible or appears fabricated.
Accounts
Creating an account is optional. You may sign in with email and password or Google. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure. You may delete your account at any time from your profile page. Upon deletion, your personal data is removed and any linked stories are anonymised.
Data processing & privacy
How we collect, use, and protect your data is described in our Privacy Policy. You have the right to access, export, correct, or delete your data at any time. You may withdraw consent to data processing, which will not affect the lawfulness of processing performed before withdrawal.
Use of the data
Aggregate statistics on Years Out are derived exclusively from approved submissions. The site is provided “as is” — outcomes reported here are the experiences of individuals and should not be read as professional advice.
